PARTICIPATORY TOURISM
-
-
Also known as rural or community
tourism, this way of travelling allows visitors
to experience intensely the lives of families
within the community. These families have been
chosen and trained to receive tourists on visits
of a few days. Visitors become members of their
families and of the community.
-
The families that welcome
visitors are very good hosts, sharing openly the
daily tasks of the home, agricultural work and
other labour, as well as moments of
entertainment, such as typical annual festivals.
-
The training of these families
involves an awareness of the visitors’ security
and health, leaving guests to enjoy the local
hospitality.
-
Visitors will also have the
opportunity to share unforgettable experiences
through participation in the customs and
traditions inherited by successive generations
since the time of the Incas, little changed by
trans-cultural processes.
-
These communities are located in
the south eastern Peruvian Andes, once the site
of the most noteworthy pre-Columbian cultures of
the American continent.
