Cusco, the Archaeological Capital of America, was the capital of the Inca Empire. We have passed through three important cultural periods: the native Quechua, the Spanish colonial period and modern times.  
 
POPULATION: 350,000 inhabitants
LOCATION: Cusco is located in southeastern Peru, Latitude 13º 30´45´´ South and Longitude 71º 58´33´´ West, at 3,360 metres above sea level.   
CLIMATE: Temperate climate, with distinct wet and dry seasons. Annual mean temperature: 11ºC  
BEST TIME TO TRAVEL:
Any time of year is good to visit Cusco, but you should remember that the rainy season in the highlands is from December to March.

HOW TO GET TO CUSCO? 
There are three ways to arrive in Cusco from other parts of Peru, although travellers also arrive from Bolivia: 
By road using public or private transport.
By train from the city of Puno.
By air from the cities of Lima or Arequipa.
